1.
Searching for meaning in senseless action has left spirits as desolate as the landscape. Nothing remains and nature can bear no purpose from the ashes. Those still living have seen spite rain as fire from the hands of powerful men, and each survivor feels scorched by the winds of unchecked aggression. Life is war. Life is obedience to my culture's whims. There is no escape, or at least I'm patterned to feel as such. I am bound, as I am compelled to believe that there was no other way, but I refuse my fate.

Eclipse 02:49
Rising sun, rising sun, have you risen too high? Have you grown too strong? Does your throne in the sky still feel secure? Or has your palace undermined your vision, in turn? In the belly of the beast consumption takes on a new meaning, and the star in our sky can't help but keep growing rows of teeth. Swallowed by our thirst to own, will we seek solace in the setting sun? Or will we dare to ignite our own symbols, painting fire with our lives? Production halts, consumption halts.
3.
I'm homesick. My brothers and sisters march with me, though our first steps are slow and precise. Homeward, our culture confronts its demons; our journey begins.
4.
I've made my home in a bed of leaves dropped like tears from the sky. Far from judgment, far from harm, surrounded, I understand sacrifice. I've made my home in a bed of glass to dance with the debris that lines the streets. A ceiling of stars and unused question marks holds my gaze with a grip so strong that I can scarcely breathe, let alone concentrate. My nest is my anchor. This is my home.

about

the Holy Fucking Spirit Newark, Delaware

The Holy Fucking Spirit existed from early 2004 to mid 2005, largely as a side-project for members of Take Down Your Art and Welcome the Plague Year. In that time, we wrote only five songs, and only recorded the four presented here.
